Distance Learning
PEVEIT
is currently able to offer nine distance
learning courses and the expectation is that further courses will
come on-line in the future. In contrast to the face-to-face training courses and MSc.
modules, the distance learning courses are run over an extended period,
and so are suitable for busy people studying in their spare time. The
current courses have a 10 week teaching period, including online tutorials
and assessed exercises, followed by a 1-2 week break, and then a 4-6 week
period of project work.
The main course content is delivered as a Computer-based training (CBT) package, this will either be packed on a CD-ROM with any other artifacts the student will need, or as a download. This ensures that much of the work can be done without needing to connect to the internet. Courses are supported with a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which gives full on-line support using email, bulletin boards, chatrooms etc.
Feedback on the assessed exercises is given by email or through our VLE, and the timescale allows feedback from earlier exercises to be put to use in later exercises.
