Distance Learning through e_learning
The study is undertaken via complete self-contained distance learning modules, a module lasting 16-18 weeks. The current courses have a 10 week teaching period, including online tutorials and assessed exercises, followed by a 1-2 week break, and then a 4-6 week period of project work. The main course content is delivered as a Computer-Based Training (CBT) package, this will either be packed on a CD-ROM with any other artifacts the student will need, or as a download. This ensures that much of the work can be done without needing to connect to the internet. Courses are supported with a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) which gives full on-line support using email, bulletin boards, chatrooms etc.
The School is currently able to offer some individual post graduate modules that can contribute towards our MSc programmes, including a foundation route to a full MSc Advanced programme.
It is hoped that by the year 2011 the School will be offering two or three full Distance Learning MSc programmes.
